While new and complex technologies are embraced (AI, genomics, robotics) in healthcare, there remain significant gaps in basic activities such as sharing health information, accessing preventative and supportive evidence based information, and connecting providers and patients/family/caregivers. Open innovation can address some of these gaps. This talk presents three projects that illustrate low-tech open innovation approaches.

Dr. Kate Sellen is the Canada Research Chair in Design for Health at OCAD University. She leads the Health Design Studio and was the inaugural director of the Health Design Master’s Program.
